Reprises His Guest-Starring Role as Magic Peddler Sebastian

Burbank, CA, November 18, 2009 - Ted Raimi ("Drag Me to Hell," "Spider-Man 3," "SeaQuest DSV"), actor and brother of "Legend of the Seeker" executive producer Sam Raimi, will guest star in an upcoming episode of the epic fantasy series "Legend of the Seeker," it was announced today.
 

Raimi, who begins filming in New Zealand this week, will reprise his role as Sebastian, the fast-talking, shady mapmaker and magic peddler who teams up with Zedd's brother Thaddicus to sell a magical cure for Banelings -- evil souls returned from the underworld.

Currently in its second season, "Legend of the Seeker" combines elements of fantasy, adventure, magic, mystery and romance with state-of-the-art visual effects and a high level of action. The series is an adaptation of internationally best-selling author Terry Goodkind's Sword of Truth book series and stars Craig Horner as Richard, Bridget Regan as Kahlan, Bruce Spence as Zedd and Tabrett Bethell as Cara.
 

"Legend of the Seeker" is from the talented team behind the long-running, successful series "Hercules: The Legendary Journeys" and "Xena: Warrior Princess," and the studio that produces primetime network hits including "Lost," "Grey's Anatomy," "Desperate Housewives," "Ghost Whisperer" and "Army Wives." The series is produced by ABC Studios and distributed by Disney-ABC Domestic Television. Ken Biller, Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert, Ned Nalle and Josh Donen serve as executive producers. Season 2 Premiere Episode Ratings

The season two premiere of Legend of the Seeker averaged 2.583 million viewers the weekend of November 7-8 with a 1.7 household rating.   By household rating it was ranked tied for 45th out of 129 syndicated shows measured for the week.

The 2.583 million was the average audience, but you might wind up seeing the number 3.528 million thrown around, too.  That's the gross average audience for the premiere.  Gross average audience is a metric commonly used in syndicated ratings where viewing of repeat broadcasts during the measured period *is* counted. But for apples-to-apples purposes of comparing to other shows you should use the 2.583 million number.

Ted Raimi Returns As Sebastion in Season 2

Ted Raimi has announced on Twitter that he will be returning to LotS in Season 2 and reprising his role as Sebastion, the cartographer. Ted's first appearance as Sebastion was in the Season 1 episode "Bounty".

Hulu Interview with Bridget

Fans of Legend of the Seeker know her as Kahlan the Confessor, a powerful woman who can make anyone she touches tell the truth -- but in exchange, they lose their free will and are compelled to obey her for as long as they live. And while the fantasy action series has been Bridget Regan's breakout role, the 27-year-old actress has appeared in everything from The Black Donnellys to last year's Sex and the City movie. (Regan played a hostess.)

We recently spoke to Regan when she was visiting New York to promote the Season 2 premiere of Legend of the Seeker. She'd flown in all the way from New Zealand, where she'd just finished shooting episode 10, and she was kind enough to speak to us about her co-star -- "He does have abs of steel, that Craig Horner" -- and their relationship, but the actress also told us about a brief encounter she had with a Hulu fan: "During the hiatus, I was in New York and this guy stopped me to say, 'You're the chick in the water on Hulu,'" she said. "I guess there was some picture of me smiling in the water on your home page. It was so cool, I was like 'Yeah, that's me! I'm the chick in the water on Hulu, sure!'" Bridget Article - 'Seeker' Star Found Spotlight

How does a thoroughly modern girl from sunny San Diego prepare to play a dagger-wielding, mind-controlling heroine from another TV dimension?

If you are "Legend of the Seeker" star Bridget Regan, it helps to start early.

"I was always quite determined," the 27-year-old actress said. "Apparently, I wore white cowboy boots for a year straight when I was 5. My mom always said there was no arguing with me."

She was born and raised in Carlsbad, and her parents still live there. But Regan spends nine months of the year in New Zealand shooting "Legend of the Seeker," a fantasy drama now in its second season. The show airs locally on KSWB/Channel 69 (Cable 5).

Inspired by the "Sword of Truth" novels by Terry Goodkind, "Legend of the Seeker" follows the adventures of the brave and noble Richard Cypher (Craig Horner) as he battles the loathsome tyrant, Darken Rahl. Regan plays his comrade and love interest Kahlan Amnell, a brave and strong-willed sorceress (also known as a Confessor) who can control the minds of anyone who loves her. Kahlan is also quick with a dagger. Regan? Not so much.

Legend of the Seeker: "Marked" Reviews

IGN review: The fun, epic fantasy adventure Legend of the Seeker has returned with "Marked", the first episode of the second season. We begin with Seeker Richard Cypher, having defeated Darken Rahl, enjoying a well-deserved celebration, along with his companions, the beautiful Kahlan Amnell and the less beautiful wizard Zedd.  [...]

Legend of the Seeker does not forget to fill the hour with action. Richard and company are fighting battles on several fronts and the episode covers a lot of ground, so there is little time for anything to bog down, with one slight exception. There is enough exposition in one scene where Richard learns more about his birth that I was reminded of the first episode of season one when the action would grind to a halt while this or that character would embark on a lengthy explanation of how this world works. That scene aside, "Marked" kicks the new season off in with action aplenty, all the while with the gorgeous scenery of New Zealand in the background, giving the show the epic setting it needs.  Read more...

Legend of the Seeker Stars Spill on the New Season's Supersexy Love Triangle

Legend of the Seeker, a syndicated fantasy series you may never have heard of but that's actually pretty darn entertaining, returns this weekend for a swashbuckling second season.

We just caught up with series stars Bridget Regan and Craig Horner to learn what we can expect for Mother Confessor Kahlan Amnell and Seeker of Truth Richard Cypher in the new episodes. (Psst...if you're not familiar with the show, please don't be put off by the fancy nomenclature derived from the Sword of Truth books on which the series is based. Mother Confessor just means "superhot nun with fighting skills" and a Seeker of Truth is, more or less, a noble knight in a shining armor. You've met their like before.)

So, what is to come in season two? We heard tell of leather-clad bad girls, jealous wenches and some sexy body-swapping...

Richard and Kahlan have two big problems this season: (1) They kinda opened a Hellmouth when they defeated Darken Rahl last season. Oops. (2) A Mord Sith named Cara (Tabrett Bethell) has attached herself to Richard and Kahlan's little family out of a deranged allegiance to Lord Rahl, a title that Richard inherited upon the late (evil) lord's death.

New Bridget Interview on The TV Chick

I would not call myself a lover of all things fantasy (vampire, yes...fantasy, not so much). However, I thought the premise of Legend of the Seeker (based on the book series written by Terry Goodkind) was interesting. The acting was wonderful, the scenery was breathtaking, and I really found myself very interested in the story. So, maybe I am slowly revising my take on fantasy/sci-fi...and getting aboard the Legend of the Seeker train. I do adore Lost, but that's more sci-fi lite than anything else. In any case, Legend of the Seeker returns tonight with its 2nd season premiere. I have seen it, and I can tell you it is fantastic. I recently had the chance to chat with the lovely and gracious Bridget Regan, who plays Kahlan (or The Mother Confessor), about filming, the fantasy genre, her character and what's coming up this season.

Legend of the Seeker will kick off its second season this weekend and no one is more excited about it than series star Craig Horner, who plays the titular Seeker, Richard.  When last seen, Richard had killed the villainous Darken Rahl (Craig Parker), and as the action-fantasy picks up the story, Richard knows better than to get too caught up in celebrating his victory, as evil of all kinds is lurking, threatening him, Zedd (Bruce Spence), Kahlan (Bridget Regan), and the people and land they love.  PopStar recently caught up with Horner for the following exclusive interview.

et's go back to season one.  How pleased were you with initial set-up of the story and the characters, and what intrigued you most about the way in which the season unfolded?

At first I wasn't so sure about the idea of Kahlan and Richard not being instant friends when they meet, like in the book, as well as Richard hardly knowing Zedd.  In the end, this proved to be an effective dramatic change.  It created conflict, which makes for good TV.

 

Take us through your experience doing season one.  What was it like to suddenly be in pretty much every scene of every episode, to have such a physically demanding role, to do all the publicity as the face of the show, and to become something of a sex symbol?

(Laughing)  I don't know about the sex symbol thing, but yes, my schedule was chaotic and still is.  I burned myself out by episode 7 and passed out on set.  Since then I've learned a way to pace myself.  I power nap as much as I can, and have no social life!  But it's kind of funny -- as much as I wish for free time, the only day I had off this year I was like, "What's happening on set?!  What are they doing without me?!  I'm bored!"

Armageddon Expo Seeker Autograph Line Pictures

Spoiler Chat Reveals More From Season 2 - SPOILERS

Maribell in Baltimore: Legend of the Seeker starts this weekend! Spill everything you know about season two, please!

The big scandal is that Richard (Craig Horner) gets confessed later this season, but we're not telling you by whom! As for this weekend's big premiere, look for Charisma Carpenter to guest star as Triana, an ambitious Mord Sith who doesn't like where boss lady Cara (Tabrett Bethell) is leading the gang. (That kiss you see to your left is more domination than romance.) The show also follows the lead of the books and reveals that Richard is actually Darken Rahl's secret half brother, and therefore he is the new Lord Rahl. Scandal!
