Denna On Her Way to Hollywood...

The following article about Jessica Marais (Denna) was published in the Sunday Telegraph (Sydney, Australia) newspaper on 28 June 2009. Jessica may be on on her way to Hollywood but in the meantime she's busy starring in the hit Australian tv show Packed To the Rafters with Rebecca Gibney.

PACKED To The Rafters star Jessica Marais  has set her sights on working in Hollywood, with an agent looking for roles.

The Logie-winner recently signed with United Talent Agency, one of America's largest talent agencies whose books boast such talents as Johnny Depp, Harrison Ford, Charlize Theron and Kirsten Dunst.

Despite the new contract, Marais, who plays daughter Rachel, has said she was in no hurry to make the move to Los Angeles.

"There are no plans to move there just yet - it's more to have people on the ground over there looking at scripts and seeking out opportunities for me," Marais said.

The popular 24-year-old, who this year picked up two Logie Awards, returns to screens this week in the second series of Channel Seven's family drama Packed To The Rafters.

"There is pressure, on us and the entire production, to make this series as good as the first and maintain what it was that Australian audiences enjoyed so much," Marais said.

Legend of the Seeker Friend to Family Television Or Foe?

The Examiner.com site has an interesting article about LotS on their site: "Legend of the Seeker" Friend to Family Television Or Foe? 25 June 2009

"Legend of the Seeker" Friend to Family Television Or Foe?

Friend to family television or foe? If you are a reader of fantasy novels, you might be familiar with Terry Goodkind and his character, Richard Sypher. Richard is the hero of the Midlands who saves the world from Darken Rahl, a tyrant who would hope to enslave the world to bend to his will...

This television series takes you through the exciting adventures of the newly named Seeker, Richard.  Along with him travels Kahlan Amnell, a Confessor, which is a woman who has the power to bring a person under her control with a mere touch, and Zeddicus Zu'l Zorander, a Wizard of the First Order.  Together they bring justice to the Midlands while fighting Darken Rahl's forces wherever they may encounter them.  On occasion they are joined by Chase, a warrior from Richard's hometown.

This show offers something for everyone.  Bravery, heroics, magic, sword fights, romance, and a story that offers the traditional morality tale of good versus evil!  Not a disappointment.

Bridget To Star in New Movie During Hiatus

The following was posted on AUSXIP's official message board Talking Xena (many thanks aerips for the news)

Looks like Bridget Regan, Kahlan in Legend of the Seeker, is going to be spending the hiatus making the film The Best and the Brightest with Neil Patrick Harris, Bonnie Somerville, Amy Sedaris, Peter Serafinowicz, John Hodgman, Kate Mulgrew, and Christopher McDonald.

From the philly.com site:

Philly, doing a bang-up film business of late, will stand in for New York in The Best and the Brightest, a farce about two Delawareans trying to get their daughter into an elite Manhattan private kindergarten.

Shooting will start Thursday, and they'll be doing exteriors all over Center City. Neil Patrick Harris (How I Met Your Mother) and Bonnie Somerville (Cashmere Mafia) play the couple. Also cast are some wickedly great comic actors: Amy Sedaris (Strangers With Candy), Peter Serafinowicz (BBC), John Hodgman (the PC guy in the Mac commercials), Bridget Regan (Legend of the Seeker), veteran Kate Mulgrew, and Christopher McDonald (yes, Shooter McGavin himself from Happy Gilmore
