I heard a very interesting rumour today that an Australian tv station has bought the show and it will be shown here but no idea which station it is or when. That's not much help but that's the latest word from here.

Let's hope it's not Channel 10 or we might not see chopped out bits of it like they did with Xena Warrior Princess and other shows.

According to the blog entry for Sword of Truth site (just added to the links section), there's a possibility that David de Lautour has been cast as Michael Cypher in Legend of the Seeker. The news comes from de Lautour's agent.

Seeker Faithful To Goodkind

Sam Raimi, executive producer of the upcoming syndicated TV series The Legend of the Seeker, based on Terry Goodkind's books, told SCI FI Wire that the goal of the series is to remain true to the SF novelist's work.

"We want to tell in a very consistent style this great epic fantasy that Terry has created," Raimi said in an interview at Comic-Con International in San Diego last month.

Raimi, together with frequent collaborator Rob Tapert (Xena: Warrior Princess), will executive-produce 22 episodes of the one-hour drama. He confirmed that the first season will cover the main plot points of Goodkind's book Wizard's First Rule and will follow the adventures of the powerful wizard Zedd (Bruce Spence).

Terry Goodkind, author of the best-selling fantasy series The Sword of Truth, told SCI FI Wire that the upcoming Legend of the Seeker TV series will not disappoint fans of the original books.

"I think what readers read the story for is because they want to watch and follow characters that they love and hate," Goodkind said in an interview at Comic-Con International in San Diego last month. "They want to be with those characters and follow that story and know what's going to happen. Exactly what those characters do isn't as important."

Seeker is based on Goodkind's Wizard's First Rule and follows the adventures of a young woodsman named Richard, a mysterious young woman named Kahlan and a powerful wizard named Zedd, who band together to stop the rise of a dark wizard.

Latest additions to the cast of "Legend of the Seeker" were announced at the 2008 Comic-Con Convention by executive producers Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert.

Bruce Spence, Jay Laga’aia and Craig Parker will join previously announced lead actors Craig Horner (Richard Cypher) and Bridget Regan (Kahlan) in the first-run, scripted weekly series.

Director preps syndicated fantasy series

Once upon a time, way back in the mid-1990s, there were elves, spaceships -- even dragons if the budget was big enough. And a magical kingdom called syndicated television was ruled by fantasy fare like "Xena: Warrior Princess," "Hercules: The Legendary Journeys" and sci-fi shows like "Andromeda."

Less than a decade ago, though, crucial foreign markets for these shows vanished, and the last such skein to give first-run syndication a shot -- NBC and MGM's "She Spies" in 2002 -- got eaten by the Nielsen troll.

But Sam Raimi thinks it's time to roll the dice again, and the helmer-producer is betting on a new-school swords-and-sorcery skein: Disney-ABC Domestic's "Legend of the Seeker."
